Are you in the mood for some authentic Latin cuisine? Ever been to La Conguita Restaurant?
La Conguita is a family owned Cuban restaurant opened in 1980; located on Grove street in Downtown Jersey City. The restaurant is very clean looking inside and out and has a great inviting atmosphere. The walls are adorned with Latin art and fixtures, different styles of Latin music playing in the background. You will enjoy the relaxing vibe and never feel rushed while dining.
The restaurant is a short walk from PATH Station, great place to pick up some delicious food on your way home from work. Try the Cuban sandwich, cafe con leche or the awesome pollo asado.
Through the decades and years, the restaurant have gone through a lot of changes as the surroundings, but remains to be the neighborhood’s top choice for Latin Food. The prices are very reasonable and it’s a great place to get some home-style Cuban Food.
The service is great during lunchtime, but be aware of coming here at night, waiting for dinner to arrive gives new meaning to “waiting” and “patience”. Every experience can different. Hopefully they have improved on the dinner service and wait time. Regardless, La Conguita still a great place to chow down when you are in the mood for some awesome home style Cuban food.
Whenever you do decide to stop by, definitely try the roasted chicken, pork, or beef. The daily special menu serves between the hours of 11am – 4pm are all under $10. Best of all, all plates come with rice, beans and plantains in the daily special menu.
