Jamie McMurray and Juan Montoya are more ready than ever to start the 2012 season. Earnhardt Ganassi Racing has made changes for the upcoming season after suffering a bad season in 2011. Shown below is a list of changes that have been made.
- Max Jones-new team manager
- Dave Winston-new engineer
- Chris Heroy-new crew chief for Juan Montoya
The changes that have been made to the cars for this year is that the teams are able to work with their engine packages. This will allow them to find out how they will like the new cooling regulations for the cars. The cars have also received new electronic fuel injection, the radiator inlet has been moved up along with a smaller radiator with a two gallon capacity.
The drivers have been used to drafting which allows them to gain more speed through the bigger speedways. This year the spoilers have been made smaller and a baseline restrictor plate. This way the drivers will not have to team up and draft though the drivers prefer to stay locked together to draft.
No one will know for sure how the cars will run until they are in Daytona.
Some of the other changes is Clint Bowyer is now racing with the Michael Waltrip Racing team, along with a new crew chief, Brian Pattie. He will also be driving with a new team member, Mark Martin who also has a new crew chief Rodney Childers.
The first race of the season will be the Shootout at Daytona on Feb. 18, 2012.
