It’s Valentine’s Day! The flowers, the chocolates, the wonderful dinners by candlelight. What’s not to love, ladies? Come on, we all love the romance of the day, even when we’re single. And we also love a good romantic story.
It’s never too late to find a good ebook romance to settle in with, maybe even entertain that gallant knight on the other side of the bed from you. And here are some of my favorites:
Cynthia Wicklund’s The Garden Series is an amazing set of books that will romance the socks off of you. Some wonderful period romances with handsome, brooding heroes and strong, independent ladies, this series is a must have. In the Garden of Temptation is currently a free read on Amazon, but at $.99 normally, it’s still a bargain. There are four books in the series — In the Garden of Seduction, In the Garden of Disgrace, and In the Garden of Deceit are the other three books. I loved being in these gardens and they’re right up there on my re-read list.
Donna McDonald is an absolute delight. Her contemporary romances feature older characters, women in their forties, fifties, and a new series about to begin with characters in their sixties. Lest you think that men and women don’t have a romantic life at that age, think again — that population of baby boomers and post-Summer of Love hippies are still blazing that sexual trail and McDonald’s books highlight the comedic side of romance. With her Never Too Late series (Dating a Cougar, Dating Dr. Notorious, Dating a Saint, Dating a Metro Man) and her Art of Love series (Carved in Stone, Created in Fire, Captured in Ink, Commissioned in White), there’s more than enough romance, giggles, and love in these books to satisfy any romantic. I loved the Never Too Late series so much I’ve re-read those at least once. I’m reading the Art of Love series right now and those books are funny and sexy, too. And for those of you that don’t like a lot of sex in your books, you’ll love these. They’re sexy without a lot of “on camera” sex. Excellent reads.
Jenna Petersen started her career writing period and Regency romance novels for the likes of Harlequin, Silhouette, and Avon. She’s now publishing as an indie but her ability to craft a story hasn’t diminished. Author of Rogue for a Night, Undeniable, and her series The Billingham Bastards (What the Duke Desires, A Scoundrel’s Surrender, and The Unclaimed Duchess), Petersen writes passion and drive within her characters. Her knowledge of the period she writes in is quite extensive. These books had me on fire just reading them. I love her work and she’s one of the short list of authors that I read anything they write.
Some honorable mentions:
Silke Juppenlatz writes some imaginative romantic fiction. Her novella, Smitten, was part of an anthology and then published solo — great story of an angel trying to earn back his wings with the woman who was the reason he lost them to begin with. Her latest paranormal romance is Howl, with some werewolf loving going on.
All four of these authors will give you some great romantic reading tonight — and any other night. All of these ebooks are available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and all online booksellers that sell ebooks.
Enjoy a good romantic read — and Happy Valentine’s Day!
