The Naples Art Association will host two events on February 4, 2012, the 9th annual Nuts About The von Liebig family fun-day and the monthly Art in the Park.
Nuts About the Von Liebig takes place on the patio out back, while Art in the Park sets up along Park Street in downtown Naples. Both events run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
“Nuts About The von Liebig originated as a coconut-painting activity for children, but it has since grown into a fun-filled day of face painting, arts and crafts, food, music and a visit from Wacky Jackie the Clown,” says the Naples Art Association in a press release. “The annual event brings families together to create and learn about the other art opportunities at the center, including summer ARTScool classes.” In fact, attendees are eligible for a drawing to win a scholarship to ARTScool, with the winner being announced at 2 p.m.
Several local non-profit organizations are partnering with The Naples Art Association to put on the event, including Lighthouse of Collier, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, Cruise One, Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Center and Costco Wholesale. The Conservancy of Southwest Florida will help children create their own wildlife masks and a “Turtle Trek” game. Cruise One will have children creating Disney Mickey Ears. Costco Wholesale will be providing cookies and icing for children to design their own delicious masterpiece.
Attendees can also walk around the building and enjoy Art in the Park, the first-Saturday art fair in which Naples Art Association members exhibit and sell their latest works along Park Street.
One of the artists taking part in this month’s Art in the Park is Brian Kirkpatrick. His art is influenced by the beautiful natural surroundings of Marco Island, where he winters every year. “I paint what I see. Every day is a new experience. Art in the Park is a great way to view work by emerging, as well as established artists,” Kirkpatrick said.
Art in the Park is sponsored by Steve Stolz at Edward Jones, Happenings Art and Entertainment Magazine, WGCU, Florida Weekly and Sunny 106.3.
