“If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness and joy.” -Job 36: 11
You may have heard people mention this statement: “Listen when the truth is being told”. The world that we live in is filled with people making decisions based on feelings instead of obedience. Take a moment to evaluate your life. When was the last time you decided not to listen to someone who was speaking the truth to you? The person could have been your parents, spouse, boss, co-worker or pastor. In addition, the Lord could have been speaking to you. One major story in the Bible that is based on ignoring and being disobedient to the Lord is the story of Adam and Eve.
The story of Adam and Eve starts in Genesis Chapter 2. The “Listen when the truth is being told” from the Lord is mention in Chapter 2 verse 15-17. Verse 15-17 reads: The Lord God took the man (Adam) and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man (Adam), “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” The door opening of sin was brought forth into this world by ignoring and being disobedient to the truth, the Lord Word. You can find that in Genesis Chapter 3 verses 1-13.
Disobedience brings pain, sorrow, and even death. As you take a look at this world, most people have no respect for listening and obeying the truth, because they are focused on the desire of deception which is based on the feeling of being misled mentally. When someone is speaking the truth to help you in your life, you should listen to their words. Obedience will help prevent destruction. Christians, the children of God, need to set an example to others that are lost from the spiritual way of life, by showing them how obedience is the start of something joyful and beautiful through their actions.
