On Sunday night, “Once Upon a Time” will air a new episode that really gives us a look inside one of the characters that is still a bit unknown to us in terms of motivation — Sidney, who is a pawn for Regina in Storybrooke and the Magic Mirror in the other.
However, we will find out a few valuable pieces of information in the process here:
- Sidney may not be as intent on keeping Regina in power as we initially thought.
- He was not always the Evil Queen’s mirror in the fairy-tale world.
Previewing this episode to TV Guide, Giancarlo Esposito (who plays the character) expects just how we can be surprised by Sidney this week:
“One of the wild cards in the story is Sidney. We don’t quite know where he stands. Is he a good guy? Is he a bad guy? In this particular episode, you see he takes a stand against the mayor, which is very interesting because she’s put him in his job. There is that mystical back story that we have in the fairy tale land that, oftentimes, relates to what we do in the Storybrooke world. This is an interesting episode because it leads to us finding out more about who Sidney really is in both worlds.”
In the video box to the left, you can also see a sneak peek that shows off Emma and Sidney trying to figure out the best way to expose Regina — and in the process, we get a tidbit about why Esposito’s character has ended up in his current position.
