On Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 106th & Ridgeview in Olathe, Kansas (just south and west of Kansas City), you can prove you are tough enough for the Kansas City Commando Run.
“In June 1940, Winston Churchill called for a force to be assembled and equipped to inflict casualties on the enemy, saying “they must be prepared with specially trained troops of the hunter class who can develop a reign of terror down the enemy coast.” Thus was born the Commando.
While this band of brothers is no longer, the spirit remains. Today, you are being called to assemble and to face your fiercest enemy. You. Silence that voice inside your head that says, “you can’t.” Run, jump, slide, splash, swim, crawl, climb and dash your way through the ultimate proving ground—THE COMMANDO RUN—a 5K Assault Course.”
This new event for 2012 aims to put itself on the map as one of the region’s most challenging and premiere obstacle course races. The Commando Run Assault Course (PDF HERE) is littered with obstacles and maneuvers to test your strength and endurance. The safety of all of the Commando Run participants is of paramount importance to race organizers. All of their obstacles are constructed by fully licensed contractors and are meticulously inspected prior AND during each event.
Have you raced Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Warrior Dash or Ruckus Kansas City? It’s time to see if they measure up to the Commando Run, and vice versa.
With great access from K-10 and Ridgeview road and with amenities within 1 mile of the event location such as Goodscents, Johnny’s Tavern and the Salty Iguana, you cannot go wrong with the race and post-race festivities. Looking to clean up and head home? Hit the highway in less than two minutes. Want to wonder over for a taco and margarita? Head over a mile down Ridgeview. Looking forward to soaking up the event atmosphere, after you complete your mission celebrate with song and beer. Johnny’s Tavern will be hosting the After Party. Every participant over 21 will receive their first beer on Commando Run. They will also take care of younger runners with a soft drink of their choice. Celebrate your achievement with your new band of brothers and sisters over a cold one. Dance and party to the LIVE band, the fun lasts as long as you do!
