I recently had the chance to interview Sammy Boyarsky about both her personal and professional life. After hearing all about the work that went into making “Rampart” with Woody Harrelson and an all star cast she also shared with us what her real world is like.
You have been acting since the age of 4. Who has been your favorite “star” to work with?
My favorite “star” to work with would definitely be Woody Harrelson. He was so supportive and showed me that in acting, you have to be real and in the moment the entire time. He also encouraged me to stay in school and get a good education, which I plan to do.
Why did you become an actress?
I started acting again when I was 9. I was being bullied at school and thought that acting would be a good confidence booster and would help me feel better about myself. After a few weeks of acting classes, I knew that acting was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Many young celebs are homeschooled or tutored. Do you attend school? If so do you find that people treat you differently because of your career?
I go to a regular school. I don’t believe that people treat me differently because of my acting, I still have to make friends, but I don’t usually tell them about my acting unless I know that they are true friends.
What about your family life? Could you tell us a little bit about how you balance a busy work schedule and being a young girl? How do your parents handle the schedule, school and all the things that come with being a celebrity and tween/teen?
My school is really supportive of my acting. I am able to get my work ahead of time if I know that I will be missing school due to auditioning and interviews/filming.
Do you still have curfews? Chores? Many teens probably have the impression that your life is “easy” or does your family pretty treat you just like every other teen?”
I don’t really get any special treatment. I have to be in bed by 9 on week days and have to have my room clean before I can hang out with any friends; I also have to get all my homework done before watching T.V.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
Hanging out with friends, singing, playing the cello, and wrestling my sister!
What are some of the perks of being a teen celeb?
Being able to travel! I have always wanted to go the New York…and now I have the opportunity of going there pretty soon for some interviews. Also all of the cute new shoes and dresses for the red carpet!
Do you have a celeb “crush?” Or someone you would just love to work with?
Mark Salling (from “Glee”) all the way! He is sooooooooo cute and I LOVE his Mohawk!
If you could play any character or part, what would it be?
My dream role would be a patient on Grey’s Anatomy, preferably something brain related so I could work with McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey)!
What do you see yourself doing in the future? Do you plan on attending college? If so, which one?
I am not quite sure which college yet, but I am positive that I want to go. Some things that I would like to study are acting, writing, and women’s history.
What advice do you have to offer to someone who would like to become an actor?
To never ever EVER give up! Persevere and don’t let people bring you down.
I have a five year old that would head to Hollywood in a half a minute and audition for any part, but most especially those involving singing and dancing, she is that brave and determined. What advice would you offer someone like her?
I would say that you can do whatever you set your mind to, be brave and to do what you love.
Sammy, thank you so much for sharing your real world of teen celebrity. We wish you all the best of a bright, beautiful and successful future!
