Atlanta fashionistas, when the designer comes out wearing a stunning brocade paisley coat, riding pants and boots you know the man breathes and lives style. And that’s how it was at the Lorenzo Riva Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 fashion show for Milan Fashion Week on February 27, 2012 in Milan, Italy.
This is a very comprehensive collection in that it offers many looks, both contemporary and retro inspired by the 1950’s and 1960’s in their flared skirts, fitted sheaths, stylish double-breasted suits, belted prim jackets and raglan-sleeve coats.
In particular, Lorenzo Riva has quite an impressive collection of coats, including the stunning color-blocked black and cream one and a lovely retro inspired lime one.
The on-trend touches are the animal prints – specifically zebra – by themselves as well as in color-blocking and separates and their lace dresses, which are very much in this year.
Of particular note are Lorenzo Riva’s refined metallic evening dresses from pale gold to pewter, offered in cocktail dresses to floor-length gowns.
Their pointed boots with a cross motif are quite a fashion statement in themselves both as ankle-length booties and knee-high boots in black and white and black and red.
Riva’s off-white bridal gown was quite lovely with a dropped waist, delicate lace bodice and fur-trimmed short sleeves, with the back having a zillion fabric-colored buttons down the back – probably also zippered for ease of wear! The bride wore no veil but elbow-length gloves so perhaps the designer is suggesting multiple uses for the garment…
This is an extremely wearable and practical collection with something for every taste. Enjoy the Lorenzo Riva Fall 2012 collection in my slide show…
