It’s been three years since Chris Brown was found guilty of assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Since then, Brown has made many public pleas of forgiveness and has asked for a ‘second chance.’
There have been many media attempts in the past to get both Brown and Rihanna to speak candidly about the incident, which both have declined. Instead, they have made a series of albums and singles like Deuces by Brown and Russian Roulette by Rihanna that have been extremely controversial and popular. And had it not been court ordered, the pair may have resolved their personal issues sooner as they allegedly continued to contact one another immediately after the assault.
After much media criticism and a felony conviction, which Rihanna did not cooperate or testify against Brown, the pair has seemed to have moved on. Brown is allegedly expecting a child with his new girlfriend Karrueche Tran and continues to make music. While Rihanna, she has been linked to several male celebrities, drugs, booze and partying. Both are making millions of dollars worldwide off the publicity of the incident and followed projects.
It should be no shock that Brown was asked to perform and snagged two 2012 Grammys, one for best R&B album F.A.M.E. (which included singles Deuces and Look at Me Now). But this has not gone unnoticed; Miranda Lambert and other celebrities publicly tweeted their disappointment in Brown’s Grammy acceptance.
“Hate all you want because I got a Grammy now! That’s the ultimate (f-bomb) off,” was Brown’s tweeted response to the criticism, which has since been taken down.
Since the Grammys, Brown’s police report on the February 7, 2009 assault has been released and the details of the incident are horrifying. The picture of Rihanna’s battered face only told a partial story to the abuse she faced in the car that night.
However, the pair would like the public and media to forgive and forget. They hope to illustrate a lesson of forgiveness through public, supportive tweets to each other and fans. They also have decided between themselves to collaborate on her new raunchy single Birthday Cake and his Grammy premiered single Turn up the Music Remix.
Perhaps, these two have found love or at least a friendship in a hopeless place.
