Summer time in Bangor wouldn’t be the same without the Sea Dog deck that overlooks the Penobscot. If that alone isn’t reason enough to grab a bite at the Sea Dog, their food will keep you going back year round.
A recent meal shared with a great friend consisted of spinach dip for an appetizer, a fried haddock sandwich and a plate of chicken and broccoli alfredo. To say these three dishes were good is an understatement.
The spinach dip is perfect and served in a bread bowl. To dip with are tortilla chips and pita bread wedges. The pita bread is perfectly grilled and the dip is the perfect consistency. Even better, when the dip is gone you’re left with a bread bowl that has absorbed the dip and it is absolutely impossible not to eat the entire bread bowl as well.
Maine is well known for seafood and the haddock sandwich certainly doesn’t disappoint. On a superbly grilled roll is a gigantic piece of haddock that is fried to perfection. The sandwich highlights the haddock by leaving off any unnecessary vegetables or condiments, except for a side of tartar sauce.
The chicken broccoli alfredo is served with the most delicious garlic ciabatta bread. This dish has just the right broccoli-pasta-sauce-chicken ratio. The Sea Dog does not skimp on any part of the dish.
What ever the season, Bangor’s Sea Dog is a great choice for a meal. Friendly staff, great food and prompt service makes this restaurant a number one in the Bangor area. Make sure you check it out if you haven’t already, you quickly become a regular!
