The Keys, FL – Bruno is 110 pounds of love, wrapped up in one handsome German shepherd body.
All this big boy has ever wanted is to give his love and loyalty to a person. But life has not been easy for Bruno.
In fact, life has been down-right cruel.
Six years ago, Bruno was on death row at Miami Dade Animal Services. His life did not end there, but it was not a happy rescue.
Though the couple who adopted him checked out perfectly, they were far from loving and kind.
While in their care, Bruno was starved and allowed to suffer from horrible skin problems and untreated ear infections.
In fact, the ear infections were so horrendous that Bruno’s ear canals had to be surgically removed in order to prevent the infection from reaching his brain.
For a couple of years, Bruno resided with the person who had initially rescued him (not the family who abused him). Though this home was kind, it was not spacious – there was truly nowhere for the big dog to comfortably stay.
During the two years that he was with this woman, he called a bathroom or the outdoors “home”.
Finally, three years ago, a semi-retired couple offered to take Bruno in. Again, it was presumed that he had his perfect “forever home”.
But happily ever after was not to be.
This family contacted Bruno’s original rescuer and let them know that they were moving and Bruno needed to find a new home – again.
Bruno’s return comes as a shock.
The couple who adopted him had kept in touch – sending happy updates and expressing their joy at having Bruno in their life.
The family’s last words about their faithful dog…
Their parting words to us about Bruno: ” thanks for letting us be part of Bruno’s life. Wish things were different and we could keep him”.
Bruno is nine years of age and he has been shuffled around like an old piece of furniture – no longer wanted and apparently in the way.
Through it all, he has maintained a loving, loyal demeanor – so typical of a German shepherd.
Stats on Bruno:
- 9 years of age
- Deaf (but can feel/react to vibrations)
- Best with female dogs or as an only dog
- Loyal, happy and friendly
Right now there is nowhere for Bruno to go. If someone doesn’t step forward to offer him a home, he might end up back in a kill shelter – back where he started so many years ago.
Please take a moment to share Bruno’s story – help him finally find a stable, responsible, loving home where he can have his loyalty and love returned.
