Earlier in the month, it looked like the ski season may have been a bust. Why plan a trip when the season was already two months in yet the conditions were looking about as good as opening day? But all that changed mid-month for many North American ski spots when a storm series blew through leaving fresh powder and skier smiles in its place.
There’s a problem: you backed out of planning a trip in advance and now you’re thinking you’ve missed all the deals. Again, you’re faced with the reality of missing the ski season. Not true, at least if you act before the end of January. Check out these three deals to get you skiing in 2012:
Crested Butte. This Colorado resort has become accustomed to offering a $599 Fly, Ski and Stay deal, its most popular and least expensive package special. Usually this per-person deal is only available through the month of January at this price point. But this year, Crested Butte Mountain Resort has extended the deal through April 2, provided you book by Jan. 31. The deal includes a roundtrip flight into Gunnison/Crested Butte Regional airport on American Airlines, three days of skiing or riding at CBMR, and a four-night stay at The Grand Lodge (you can upgrade to the Elevation Hotel & Spa for $699 per person). Learn more by calling 800-600-2803.
Jackson Hole. So you’ve heard that Jackson Hole has been getting hit with snow, even when it was skipping Colorado and Utah, and you want in on it with your snow buddies. Groupon has a getaway deal for a 2- or 3-night stay in a cabin at Fireside Resort outside of JH. It’s a $758 value that you can get for as low as $329. What’s even better, the cabin sleeps four and you can purchase the deal multiple times to reach a 10-night stay. Find more details here.
Vail Resorts. Last week, Vail received 11 inches of snow overnight, Beaver Creek had nine inches when the lifts opened this morning, and Keystone opened its snow cat skiing. Terrain conditions are surely reasons to ski, but you need some lodging before you can go. If you book by Jan. 31, you can score some deals by staying at any RockResorts or other participating lodging properties in Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Northstar. Receive a free night on them, plus a $50 gift card and hydration backpack. There are some restrictions but rates start at $80 per night at Keystone. Learn more by calling 866-614-7625 or visiting rockresorts.com/3forfree.
Snowbird. It’s beginning to look a lot like winter in Utah, and Snowbird received almost four feet of snow to start off the week. If you can skip out of town and create a non-traditional weekend for yourself, you can take advantage of the Early Week Ski Special. Rates start at $99 per person and include a Snowbird Unlimited Tram & Chair ticket for each night of stay. The catch? It’s a two-night minimum, five-night maximum, and you can’t stay over on Friday or Saturday nights. Click here for more details.
