A storm system will spread precipitation across the Metropolitan area between 9AM and Noon on Wednesday. At the onset, a mix of snow, sleet and rain is expected in certain areas before a change to plain rain in the afternoon. In the city, central Jersey and coastal sections there could be a brief mix, but it should go quickly to rain with no accumulation. North and west though, a heavy wet snow may fall for up to a few hours and bring a couple inches (See the accumulation map to the left). Rain and sleet will also take over these areas eventually by the afternoon/evening.
The storm is expected to linger into the overnight period when temperatures may hold steady at the freezing mark up north. Watch for icy patches here. Everywhere else will remain well above freezing. Clouds and patchy drizzle is expected to continue through much of Thursday.
