The national organization, Grey 2K USA, is asking animal lovers to boycott the sneaker company, Skechers, because of a new advertisement to air during the Super Bowl. According to their website, “On November 22, Grey 2K USA learned that Skechers had filmed a commercial at Tucson Greyhound Park featuring greyhound dogs in running jackets pitted against a small dog wearing Skechers sneakers.” Greyhound racing is a cruel sport in which animal often suffer injuries and in isolation. Grey 2K USA contacted the company with their concerns but Skechers denies that the advertisement promotes greyhound racing.
Grey 2K USA is asking concerned animal lovers to sign their national petition and participate in a “Boycott Skechers” Weekend event. Such an event is planned in Southwest Florida for Sunday, January 29 from 3-6 pm. You can find more information here.
