On the evening of Friday, January 20, Living Faith Christian Center in Pennsauken, New Jersey became home to a rousing live recording of gospel artist Henry Hall’s second CD, “Declaration of Dominion”. Fueled by a six-piece band, 12 vocalists and hundreds of enthusiastic supporters from cities along the Eastern seaboard, Minister Henry Hall and New Dimension delivered not only a first-rate performance, but an authentic worship experience as well.
When asked why he chose to do a live recording, Henry’s response was deliberate yet good-natured. “I am not a studio singer. My voice has too much soul,” chuckled Hall. “We wanted to capture the atmosphere as well as the synergy of us singing and the voice of the people.” Based on the response from the diverse audience in attendance, mission accomplished.
Scheduled to be released in May/June 2012, “Declaration of Dominion” is Hall’s sophomore project. “It’s Harvest Time,” the South Jersey native’s 2007 debut CD, garnered Hall a first ballot Stellar Award nomination in the category of New Artist of the Year, and won him the Newsome Award for Male Vocalist of the Year. “To minister before Dr. (Creflo) Dollar and Bill Winston, and to be on the same stage as Vickie Winans, Phil Driscoll and Helen Baylor was something I could not have imagined, but it happened,” recounts Hall reflecting on the success of his first labor of love.
The theme of “Declaration of Dominion” is a musical expression of Hall’s heart for the body of Christ. “For the past five years, I have been thinking about our rights as believers, and living in a self-sufficient, powerful way,” says the singer/songwriter. “God gave us (believers) dominion and authority to manage the resources, talents and gifts to impact our family, the community and the world. And during this time of meditation and prayer, God began to give me songs that declare this.”
Comprised of eleven tracks including “Above and Beyond” and “The Word Works,” an old-school hand-clapper, “Declaration of Dominion” is a collaboration with some of the top producers and musicians in the gospel music industry. Joining him on this project are veterans Franklin “Bubby” Fann, Parris Bowens (both of whom are originally from New Jersey) and newcomer Donald “June” Rowell. Hall, often compared stylistically to John P. Kee and Fred Hammond, anticipates that the first single from the new CD will be “You Were There For Me,” a declaration of God’s faithfulness during times of trial and tribulation.
“One of the things that we have been praying for is pastors,” says Hall compassionately. “Our greatest desire is that God will refresh their vision . . . When our pastors’ vision is revived and renewed, churches can be restored and move forward.”
Accompanying Henry Hall are the New Dimension singers, a collection of vocalists assembled from various praise and worship teams the music minister has partnered with over the years. “We have a wonderful group of people who have come together for the common goal of using their gifts to praise and worship God as well as edify each other,” shares Hall.
“To have these people work side by side with me is humbling and an honor because it speaks to how God sees them and how God sees me,” says the independent artist. “You can’t do something on this level by yourself.”
