2012 has arrived. Now is the time to implement your New Year resolution to get into shape.
If you haven’t prepared yourself due to the holiday madness, you still have time this week to get everything in order. Join your local gym that best suits your needs. Throw out all the holiday junk food and goodies, and then clean out all the fattening sauces, desserts, and instant meals full of preservatives, food coloring, artificial sweeteners, corn syrup, and trans fats. Make sure you remove fried foods, bacon, sausage, cured meats, fatty meats, ham, canned beans and vegetables, salted nuts, smoked nuts, table sugar, honey, jam, candy, toffee, gums, chocolate fudge, puddings, mints, sweets, cake, cookies, biscuits, instant meals, ice cream, pies, potato chips, popcorn, salad dressings, soft drinks, canned fruits and fruit juices with sugar, white flour baked goods, pasta, pickles, chutney, processed packaged cereals, artificial sweeteners, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. Stay away from hamburgers, French fries, onion rings, and any other fast food.
If you have a soda or alcohol habit, don’t stop cold turkey. Cut back gradually. Reduce the amount you drink daily by twenty-five percent each week, and replace them with a glass of fresh water. By gradually cutting back the unhealthy drinks and replacing them with pure water, your metabolism will burn fat faster and you won’t have to worry about ill effects, such as caffeine migraine headaches. Remember, alcoholic beverages are pure concentrated sugar that slows your metabolism over seventy percent, and by eliminating only twenty ounces of soda per day you can lose up to thirty-five pounds per year.
Don’t drink bottled teas that are full of sugars and preservatives. Drink delicious teas that you brew yourself, instead of coffee. Coffee increases food carvings and keeps your body from breaking down proteins properly. On the other hand, fruity teas, green tea, red tea, mint tea, chamomile tea, and many others taste wonderful without adding sugar to them. You can brew enough to fill a quart container and keep it in the refrigerator so it is easy to access at any time. If you prefer it hot, just heat a cup of your pre-brewed tea in the microwave. If you need a pick-me-up in the morning, green tea not only contains caffeine to help you get started, but also natural antioxidants to clean your system. Mint tea is great for the digestion and chamomile tea has a calming effect perfect for removing stress during the evening hours.
Have a glass of vegetable juice before lunch and dinner. This will make you feel fuller and give you essential vitamins. Then watch your portions. Eat no more than three ounces of meat, along with half a cup of each vegetable side dish, and one cup of fruit or a fresh green salad.
Stay away from the snack aisles in grocery stores. Don’t buy processed foods. Reduce your salt intake to prevent gaining water weight. Look for whole grain products, not things labeled as multigrain, which are a deceptive form of hiding processed carbs.
Make a comprehensive, easy to prepare, well-balanced meal plan, and stick to it. If you need help to accomplish this, you can visit one of the excellent nutrition specialists in the Tampa Bay area, who can assist you in your goals. They can get you started in the right direction while adding an element of motivation.
Read food labels carefully. You won’t know what you are putting into your mouth if you don’t educate yourself. Food companies don’t care if you are healthy; in fact they prefer that you become addicted to their products so they can sell more to inflate their bottom line. They are experts at making attractive deceiving labels that make you believe their products are wholesome and delicious. That is why they are such big business. Only if you take the time to read the small print on the back, will you know if a food is worth buying to promote your health and the physical well-being of your family.
2012 is going to be a wonderful year! You can start making it great today. Now that you have the determination to change bad habits into good habits, this is the time to implement them. Get organized and create a plan to achieve your goals so you can become the person you desire to be and have a truly happy, prosperous New Year!
