Survivor producer, Bruce Beresford-Redman has been accused of killing his wife Monica in Cancun two years ago. Beresford-Redman still maintains he didn’t kill his wife. He is speaking out for the first time from a jail cell in Mexico.
The exclusive interview with CBS’ 48 Hours aired Saturday night. Beresford-Redman said, “This is the first time I’ve chosen to speak. Everyone seems to have decided that I killed my wife, I really didn’t. For anyone who really believes, as you’re supposed to believe, in America, that you’re innocent until proven guilty, please, take a look at the evidence or in this case the absolute, complete lack of evidence and don’t rush to judgment.
This is not CSI or Law and Order or any of those shows where at the end we have a satisfying resolution. I doubt that there will ever be a satisfying resolution for this because the evidence is gone. Even if I do manage to get off, I don’t know if Monica’s killers will ever really be caught.”
Beresford-Redman was held in a federal prison in California for over a year. The Emmy nominated producer was formally extradited back to Mexico to face murder charges.
The couple hit a rocky place in their marriage after Monica discovered that Beresford-Redman had cheated on her. In an effort to save their marriage, they embarked on a family vacation with their young children.
The family stayed at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun. After supposedly taking in a shopping excursion, Monica, 41 was reported missing when she did not return. Her body was later found in the resort’s sewer.
