A 14-year-old boy is in police custody after allegedly shooting his mother to death as she slept Monday night.
36-year-old Tamiko Robinson was found on the floor of a home in the 5700 block of Burns near Gratiot. She had been shot several times at close range.
Robinson’s fiancée Chiko Lewis was sleeping in an adjacent room with the woman’s 5-year-old daughter.
Lewis called 911 after hearing the shooting.
The boy was taken into custody after trying to escape in his mother’s car.
Police say the boy used Lewis’ gun.
The motive appears to be that Robinson refused to allow the suspect to hang out with his friends.
