Tempest Free Running Academy is Southern California’s only training facility solely dedicated to the growth and spreading of free running and parkour. Their signature ideal: Tru Freedom.
The course, designed by X-games designer Nate Wessel, offers a real world environment to extreme sports by bringing the games inside. Here you can learn everything from the basics of parkour to the more advanced maneuvers and tricks of free running.
The interior is incredibly colorful and an entire section is devoted to recreating Mario Games and other familiar video games. Kids can play it for real, bouncing on red boxes wracking up imaginary points, rather than sitting behind a counsel. Have a look at this video:
The staff is made up of excellent, well-trained professionals and stunt people that looked like they just walked out of a hot, sexy CW TV show.
Through hard work and creative activity they will push you to your limits, from young to well, parent-age. Bravery never looked so fun. Just by watching, everyone will want to participate and exceed their own limitations.
In essence, it’s a humongous gym unlike any other, with a number of huge trampolines, an indoor 10 ft. wide by 6 ft. deep foam filled swimming pool, warped walls for the “Ninjas,” a huge gymnastics swing floor, and poles to jump from, jungle style. We are talking 7000 square feet of dream playground; in terms of excitement, the physical equivalent to, say Disneyland.
Tempest offers courses, ranging from ages 6 and up. The children are never unattended.
The classes are broken down into parkour levels, from beginning to advance, that is from learning to create inner balance, muscle and strength, to doing a series of wild flips and basically flying through the air.
They are located in Chatsworth but I suspect given the crazed positive response, they will soon be expanding in other areas in the great LA area. They open at 3 pm-20 pm.
