The next few days for the Texas Longhorns will determine if they will make it to the NCAA tournament for the 14th year in a row. The Longhorns have played good this year but not great.
The Longhorns have lost 6 games by 5 or less points. The Longhorns most likely will not get their twentieth win of the season until next week when they play in the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City. The Longhorns needs to win at least two games to burst the bubble floating around the program and get a guaranteed spot in the big dance this year.
J’Covan Brown has taken the team on his shoulders this year. Brown leads the conference in scoring with 19.5 points per game. Brown is not only the scoring leader, he is the leader of the six freshmen on the team. At various time this season Brown has been a coach on the floor directing the team to run the game plan and getting them where they need to be.
Super freshman Myck Kabongo has played well when in the lineup. Kabongo has had a tendency of picking up unnecessary fouls which lands him on the bench for long stretches of time. Sheldon McClellan has been a force off of the bench. Julien Lewis has been taken under the wing on Brown and has been a good defensive force for the Horns.
The Longhorns have proven they can play with any team in the conference, but have not played a complete good two halves this season. If the Horns can put together three good games to finish the season they will make the tournament and they could be spoilers against some unsuspecting team.
