The Voice has been pummeling the once dominant-on-Monday-night CBS for weeks now. Last night the network got a one-two punch in the eye as The Voice and the rain-delayed Daytona 500 knocked out some of CBS’s top shows.
The Voice edged the Daytona 500 in both the 18-49 demographic and total viewer to become the top rated program of the night. Smash is still hemorrhaging viewers, but it was up a little over last week.
Fox claimed the second place spot with the night, but since the race was live, it’s numbers good be adjusted up or down possibly moving it into first place.
CBS may have managed a third place finish, but it wasn’t pretty. All of the shows were down considerably, and 2 Broke Girls and Two and a Half Men hit series lows. Even Hawaii 5-0 took a double digit hit.
ABC settled for fourth place, but it female-friendly programming was help by the race. The Bachelor and Castle both saw bumps from the previous week’s ratings.
Things continue to be dismal for the CW with Hart of Dixie down and Gossip Girl hitting a series low. The only sure renewal in their scripted dramas for next year is The Vampire Diaries.
