The so-called “holy” land, the most violent place on Earth, is seeing yet more moves towards war. With a nuclear armed Jewish state of Israel (it’s estimated Israel already has 75-200 nuclear weapons) wanting to remain the only nuclear power in the region, which may be threatened if Iran really is working on nuclear weapons, and with their control of over 90 percent of the U.S. Congress and the White House, it looks like America will again be pressured into fighting an enemy of Israel.
The submissive position U.S. politicians have put America in regarding Israel is obvious to most of the world. Recently, for an example, a Russian official said he believed Israel is pushing the U.S. into a war with Iran. And, of course, this is all in line with the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament which says that God said regarding Israel at Isaiah 60:12, “For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.”
After America destroyed Israel’s enemy, Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, and left that country a splintered mess of rising religious violence between warring Islamic sects, Israel is now turning America’s sights on Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu recently said in an interview, “For the first time, I see Iran wobble.” He went on talking about the sanctions against Iran and said that the sanctions “coupled with a clear statement from the international community led by the U.S. to act militarily to stop Iran if the sanctions fail, Iran may consider not going through the pain.” It’s obvious that Israel does not care how many Iranians die and are terribly wounded and mutilated. And neither does Israel care how many Americans die and are wounded or how much the U.S. politicians spend of American tax-dollars to defeat Israel’s enemy. They probably have the same attitude as they did in 2003 when the neoconservatives and U.S. politicians launched the unnecessary Iraq War. At that time retired Israeli General Avraham Rotem said, “A (US) war with Iraq serves Israel’s strategic interests because it wants Saddam gone. Someone says, ‘You sit back, we’ll take care of it’–what’s better than that?” (St. Petersburg Times, March 15. 2003, p 5A) The big problem with that is those career politicians telling Israel that they’ll take care of it, are not the ones really taking care of it. It’s the grunts on the ground and the already strapped American tax payer who are really “taking care of it.”
In order to understand the Middle East today, you need to understand the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. Despite any appearance or claim of being a democracy, Israel is first and foremost a Jewish state. That is why it does not even have a constitution. A constitution in a democracy is the supreme law of the land. In a religious state like Israel, there cannot be any law above its religious laws. The Torah reigns supreme in Israel. To make this point, the Israeli Supreme Court recently ruled that a law banning Israeli citizenship to Palestinian spouses was legal. The purpose of this law is to make certain that Israel remains a Jewish state.
The ancient Hebrew/Jewish Bible writers claimed that God gave the “holy” land to the ancient Hebrews/Jews. Not only many Jews, but many Christians believe this nonsense. In fact, the South Carolina legislature actually put this Bible lie in an official resolution! This official superstition based resolution reads in part, “Whereas, Israel has been granted her lands under and through the oldest recorded deed as reported in the Old Testament, a tome of scripture held sacred and reverenced by Jew and Christian, alike, as the acts and words of God; and Whereas, as the Grantor of said lands, God stated to the Jewish people in the Old Testament; in Leviticus, Chapter 20, Verse 24: “Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey”; and “Whereas, God has never rescinded his grant of said lands;. . .” That an official governmental body can come up with such nonsense in the 21st century shows all Deists just how much more work we must do to bring a natural and reasonable balance to the world!
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu strongly embraces the Greater Israel of the Bible. He said, regarding Israel ethnically cleansing the international city of Jerusalem of non-Jews and building homes for Jews, “[Jerusalem] is not a settlement. It is the sovereign capital of the State of Israel. We have been building in Jerusalem for 3,000 years.”
Looking geographically at what the ancient Hebrews/Jews who wrote the Bible claimed God gave to them to be Greater Israel we plainly see it will require many, many more wars, bloodshed, suffering and misery. Televangelist, faith-healer and Christian Zionist Pat Robertson wrote an article called The Land of Israel: A Gift From God. In his article Pat gives the borders of Greater Israel. He writes, “I want to show you the extent of the land, because Solomon, the son of David who was living in 950 B.C. (that’s a long time ago), this was his territory. You go all the way up north to the Euphrates River which encompasses the better part of modern-day Syria. Solomon’s empire went up to the Euphrates River.
“And Tyre and Sidon and Megiddo. And they had the Via Maris which went from Damascus all the way down to Cairo. It went as far as the area down in Gaza. Just south of that there is a creek called the River of Egypt. Not the Nile. The Nile is further away. This is what they got and it came all the way down and there is Kadesh Barnea and the entrance to the Gulf of Aqaba. And it went up the Jordon River. This was the territory that God gave to Joshua.”
Based on the borders of the Bible’s Greater Israel, Americans will be fighting and paying for Israel’s wars for a long, long time to come since these borders include Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Egypt.
The more we promote a revolution in religion based on God-given reason and Deism, the further we will weaken the deadly destructive powers of the “revealed” religions and move people and the world towards a natural rationalism that will know no bounds. As Thomas Paine wrote, “We have it within our power to begin the world over again.” Let us make something of it!
God gave us reason, not religion
