Torchwood, which ended season four as a middle of the road show, is still up in the air. Meaning, will there be a season five or not?
According to Cultbox, who interviewed Eve Myles, there is still no word on if there will be another season of this show.
“As far as I know at the moment, everything’s still very much on hold. Russell [T Davies] has things happening in his personal life.
“John [Barrowman] is very much on the same page as me, in that if and when they need us, they can just pick the phone up and we will be there before they’ve even put the phone down, because it’s something we love doing.
“Nothing’s going to happen in 2012, I know that much for sure. But who knows what will happen in 2013. Maybe a movie, to kinda draw a line under it.
“That’s the thing about Torchwood, every series we’ve changed our format. We’ve always had a gap in between, so fingers crossed, because we’ve got such an outstanding loyal fan base. They deserve Torchwood to go ahead with something else to draw a line under it, for the fans to have a bit of closure.”
Russell T. Davies putting career on hold
If you’ve read the comments on countless sites, the fans from the beginning hated Miracle Day (for the most part) and are still upset over the Ianto deal as well as having Torchwood move to the states.
Viewer reactions to Miracle Day
For me, as a fan of the series as a whole, I can see the flaws, but at the same time not having a Torchwood is a very sad thing. While I enjoyed Miracle Day (yes I really did), I want the team to go back to Cardiff, rebuild the Hub, and go back to what they did best in season 1 and 2 which was keep a watch over all the aliens that always found a way here on Earth. And I want Captain Jack to go back, now and again onto Doctor Who, because without Doctor Who, there’d be no Torchwood.
But will we ever see another Torchwood? At this time no, and for the new fans of the series, this really is a sad sort of tragedy, because a lot of people ordered Starz for this show. For the old fan that both loved and hated what Torchwood became, well some of you may be happy with no possible closure, because well it became a different show, but for those who still believe this show can still be good, well it seems that a long wait is in order.
What do you think? Should it just be done, or would you prefer closure? Let us know in the comments below.
