On Sunday, February 19th the Tru Hope Trailblazers faced off against the We-Ball All-Stars, a team based out of Virginia Beach, VA. After a hard-fought contest, the Trailblazers pulled out a 118-107 victory in overtime.
The Trailblazers were led by Maurice Latham who finished with 35 points and also added 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Point guard Brian Graves added another triple-double, finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Trailblazers also received solid contributions from forward Jamal Robinson with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists and also from center Jason Clark with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The Trailblazers also received contributions from Brandon Plummer (9 points), Paul Johnson (7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists), newcomer Donnie Stith (4 points and 4 rebounds), Laquann Bogues (5 points), and Olu Doherty (3 rebounds).
The We-Ball All-Stars were led by Ralph Hegamin, who finished with 34 points and 9 rebounds. Hegamin, a product of Kellam High School (Virginia Beach), played in both Portugal (15.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and the United Kingdom (13.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg) during the 2010-11 season. Robert Strickland (24 point, 6 rebounds) and Delshay Lewis (19 points) provided solid contributions for the We-Ball team. Carl George and Marcus Mitchell chipped in with 15 points and 10 points, respectively. Mitchell also added 7 rebounds to go along with his 10 points. Marlon Scotchman also added 5 points and 6 rebounds for the All-Star team.
The Trailblazers have their final two home games on Saturday, March 3rd versus the Portsmouth Cavaliers at 7:00 pm and on Sunday, March 4th versus the We-Ball All-Stars at 4:00 pm. Both games will be played at Atlantic Shores Christian High School in Chesapeake.
