It has been a misconception in the Christian church where many believe that God does not want his children to have natural blessings however there are plenty of natural blessings which believers already possess. Yet every believer’s first true blessing is Jesus, who is able to fulfill the needs of everyone.
“God said to Solomon, “Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern my people— I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!” 2 Chronicles 1:11-12
Solomon knew the heart of God, and by asking for wisdom and knowledge, he sought first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, looking to govern over God’s people as a servant, pleasing God; and so it was God who granted Solomon wealth. By desiring the wisdom and knowledge of God, Solomon was able to discern the desires of God, even the appointed time to build a house of worship for God.
“And He said to them, Guard yourselves and keep free from all covetousness (the immoderate desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more); for a man’s life does not consist in and is not derived from possessing overflowing abundance or that which is over and above his needs.” Luke 12:15
What Jesus reveals about natural blessings is that they are NOT the way to eternal life [who is God], but it is through Christ Jesus. So the believer can have natural blessings [or wealth] but whatever a believer possesses should not be from what was coveted. God has already allotted every believer according to their needs; anything over and above their needs may cause them to lose faith, and sight of Jesus; causing them to look more toward seeking natural blessings, and forgetting about serving God.
“He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ Remember the LORD your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.“ Deuteronomy 8:17-18
Jesus being a God of love, power and a sound mind, works all things for the good of the kingdom. He provides for the needs of his people, willing that there are equal blessings to share with everyone; for as we can see in this present time, there are many people who have over and above their needs, and yet others who just do not have enough.
