As Christians live in the modern world, they face the challenge to their faith and lifestyle that comes from being constantly bombarded with the ungodly value system that the worldly system throws at them through various television programs, movies, magazines, advertising, internet sites, etc. Christians can be also bombarded by demonic deceptions that try and use those things to get Christians away from following their Christian values.
In order to overcome those challenges, Christians need to follow the command of the Apostle Paul: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2 NASB)
This means that instead of letting the worldly value system push them into following its values, Christians are to have their mind renewed and their spiritual strength restored as they daily study God’s Word to learn His principles for living, talk to God in prayer, and use the insight and power of the Holy Spirit to wash away the contamination that the bombardment of worldly values can cause besides giving them the strength to live according to God’s principles.
As Christians do these things and develop a working knowledge of Biblical truths as the foundation for their beliefs and actions, they can develop a Christian worldview that interprets the various forms of information coming to them according to what God says about them in the Bible.
The more Christians let a Christian worldview dominate their thinking and value system, the more they are able to give a Christian perspective in the debates over various spiritual, social, moral, financial, or political issues that are currently in the news.
In this year of an upcoming important election, Christians need to use their Christian worldview when they are listening to what government officials and candidates for various government offices say about political, social, moral, or governmental practice issues.
When Christians find a candidate that has a Christian point of view on various issues and has a good Christian lifestyle, then Christians should support that candidate in many ways ranging from giving them financial support to physically working to get that candidate elected.
As Christians use their worldview to not only interpret and respond to the issues that are being debated in modern society, they can also use that worldview as they proclaim God’s principles of living to those people around them. As they do that, they will become great beacons of the light of God’s kingdom in the midst of our modern society that is full of intellectual and spiritual darkness.
