Back from a recent tour of duty on Kladis, Alastair Ashley looks at his home government with new eyes… and new ideals burning in his chest. These ideals propel him into trial after trial–a roller coaster ride of seismic plot shifts interspersed with intriguing technologies and not-yet-science.
But more importantly, Withur We is a kind of epic thought experiment in the radical individualist-anarchist political and social theory of Murray Rothbard, the great libertarian theorist. The results are profound and delve deeply into human nature.
The story is entertaining and intellectually satisfying. I found it hard to put down. I was glued to my new Kindle, always anxious for Ashley and anxious to see the outcome of his efforts to live out his ideals. Caution: You may find yourself changed by this book. These are contagious and powerful ideas. Murray Rothbard would be proud.
I think Alexander has made a great contribution to the tradtion of libertarian science fiction like Heinlein’s The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress.
