Usually when thinking of New Years Day, one thinks of new beginnings, resolutions and black eyed peas. But what about makeup? A lot of drugstore lines are launching part of their 2012 collections now — and as we speak, a lot of them are on sale at Walgreens and CVS. One of the main contenders offering up new goods is Maybelline who introduced a whole new line that includes a cheek color called Dream Bouncy Blush.
Finding a blush is easy. Finding a good blush is not always easy. In order for women to be satisfied with a blush, it has to look good, it has to remain true to color for the duration of the day, and it has to stay put. Women don’t really care whether the formula is powder, cream or mousse — they simply want the product to work. Good news for your complexion and your pocketbook, Maybelline has a winner with the Dream Bouncy collection!
The blush is named Dream Bouncy because upon touching the product, you’ll notice it has a texture that’s slightly spongy. Almost bouncy. It isn’t as wiggly as Jell-O but its not a powder blush, it’s more of a gel-cream. Because of the texture of these kinds of blushes, a lot of women simply use their fingertips to dot the product onto the apples of their cheeks. If that works for you, go for it. Personally, I’ve never been able to get a natural look by using my fingertips and I always end up looking like a clown, so I still use a brush. I gently pat the brush into the product (just the tip, no need to saturate the bristles) then apply it just like I would apply a powder blush, and I blend it to get a softer look. When you do that with a gel, cream or mousse, you get a more natural looking blush — and its very long lasting.
There are beautiful colors offered up in the Dream Bouncy collection. My personal favorite is Hot Tamale, a very bright looking red coral that goes on as a beautiful just-came-from-outside flush of pink. It looks intimidating in the pan but it goes on fresh and soft. There are pinks, corals, berries and neutrals all being offered in the Dream Bouncy line so there is something for everyone. The blush retails for around seven dollars so for that price, get yourself a pink or berry and a peachy coral. Pink and peachy-coral are the most universally flattering cheek colors for women so Pink Berry and Hot Tamale are both going to really bring out your features! Just remember, apply these blushes sparingly. Unlike powder blush, a little goes a long way with cream, gel and mousse.
You can grab these little gems up at Target, CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens. Patience might come into play with these little babies because like the Revlon Lip Butters, this was a highly anticipated launch and women are grabbing them up like crazy. If you luck out and find them, they will be on the end-cap displays with the new products. And if you come across an empty display case, don’t worry! Eventually you’ll find them in the Maybelline section as part of their permanent line.
